The Stewards need your help. Please consider volunteering your time and talent to help us protect and preserve the Dells of the Wisconsin River.
Natural Resource Management
When hiking in the Dells of the Wisconsin River State Natural Areas, please bring trash bags to collect litter along the trails and at the trail heads. On the first Saturday in May, the Stewards participate in Project Clean to clean litter from the roads leading into the Dells. Join us at the Kilbourn Public Library on Saturday morning. At noon we meet the volunteers who have been working at Mirror Lake and Lake Delton for a rib barbecue sponsored by the Dells Rotary Club. Watch our Facebook page for details.
Teachers and Students
The Stewards believe that educating our youth and involving them in efforts to protect, preserve and respect the Dells of the Wisconsin River is critical to the long-term success of our mission.
We would like to work with interested teachers and students to educate young people who would like to continue the work begun by the Ho-Chunk and continued by George Crandall and the Stewards.
Raising Conservation Funds
The Stewards are raising funds to buy land or scenic easements on the Dells river corridor using matching funds from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund. Most of our funds have been raised through memorial donations.
Local Government Champions
The Stewards are working to form close working relationships with each local governments along the Dells river corridor in order to engage in conversation about optimizing the scenic, ecological and development potential of river corridor property within their boundaries.
We need people living in the Town of Dell Prairie, Town of Springville, Town of Lyndon, Town of Kildare, City of Wisconsin Dells, Village of Lake Delton, Town of Newport, and Town of Delton who are willing to champion river corridor protection by watching local government meeting agendas and plans for riverfront property and reporting to the Stewards.
Join and Attend Meetings
The Stewards meet on the last Thursdays of September, October, January, March, and May at 6:30 at the Kilbourn Public Library in Wisconsin Dells. We invite speakers and plan community action to further our mission of preserving and protecting the Dells river corridor.
